About
Who runs Home Security Camera Guide and why every pick records locally.
Home Security Camera Guide is an independent buying guide for home security cameras. We track what Amazon shoppers actually buy - the public "bought last month" counts, ratings and prices on Amazon listings - and rank cameras that record without a monthly subscription.
Our one editorial rule: no-subscription first. Every camera featured on this site stores footage locally - on the camera, a microSD card, or a base station. Cloud backup can exist as an option, but nothing we feature requires a plan to be fully useful.
We do not operate a test lab and we do not pretend to. Our rankings combine public sales and rating data with specification comparisons and long-term brand track records. When a pick has a weakness, we print it in the "worth knowing" column on every review block. The full method, with its limits, is on How We Pick.
This site is part of the buyer guide network at buyerguidehq.com and is updated monthly. Questions, corrections and product tips are welcome at Contact.
